Christopher and Meghan’s intimate and beautiful wedding was celebrated at the gorgeous Roblar Winery and Vineyards in Santa Ynez, California. It was a typical perfect sunny California day. Blue skies, fresh air and the warm love and laughter of their happy families filled the atmosphere. As a wedding photographer it’s fun to shoot big weddings. However, there is some thing very special about small intimate weddings where the group is small enough that everyone can share in almost every special moment that happens through out the wedding day. Such was the case for Christopher and Meghan’s wedding. Love and excitement filled the day in anticipation for this wonderful wedding at Roblar Winery and Vineyards in Santa Ynez, California.
I met Meghan and some of her family at the beautiful Fess Parker Wine Country Inn and Spa in Los Olivos. where she was getting ready. While she got ready I also spent some time photographing any wedding detail shots that I could.
I often joke to my clients that I am photographer, furniture mover and mirror cleaner, etc. This is because at almost every wedding there is a great shot to be had if furniture is moved or a mirror cleaned, etc. Those thing don’t tend to happen magically, so I end up doing them. “Whatever it takes to get the shot.” My clients are worth it. In the above wedding photograph there was a really nice table against the wall. I envisioned a photograph with the bride against the clean wall and sunny windows, with no table. A little grunt work and less than a minute later, we had our shot!
Obviously this is not where Roblar Winery holds most of their receptions. The room can only accommodate a small number of people. But for the number of people Christopher and Meghan had this space was fantastic. Natural light coming in from the roof, beautiful wood walls and ceiling beams and decor to match. Really nice! I must say, the staff at Roblar Winery and Vineyards was very kind and helpful to me. The food served was absolutely delicious. It was very fancy, out of the norm and oh so tasty. Keep in mind that I photograph 30-40 weddings a year and this was near if not at that top of the charts.
Christopher and Meghan opted for a “first look”. I scoped out a great spot, set Christopher in position and then Meghan came in to unite with Christopher for a very sweet intimate moment for the two of them.
Talk about gorgeous blue skies!
It’s really fun when the entirety of the wedding can also essentially be the entirety of the wedding party and all be in one shot! Celebrate!
I’m always looking for something different or interesting to take ring shots with. I’m not sure if Christopher or Meghan like coffee or tea, but I thought it would be fun to take this shot. Earlier in the day while at Fess Parker I spotted these coffee and tea packets. Extra Bold Coffee – seemingly more masculine for his ring and Lemon Zinger Tea, with yellow label adding a feminine touch for her rings. Fun!
“Coming Soon – August 2014”. The lovely couple also had a very joyous announcement to share with their family announcing the gender of their soon to be newest family member. It’s so touching to see how emotionally moved grand parents to be get at the unveiling of such news. I have to admit I teared up myself. There is nothing more precious than the arrival of one of God’s latest creations. It’s enough to lift you high and carry you to new heights never imagined! We shouldn’t have put so much helium in these balloons…we almost lost Christopher. Good thing Meghan got ahold of him and saved him from drifting off into space!
A special congratulations to Christopher and Meghan on the love you have for each other and for the love that is already uncontainable for the delight within Meghan that is on the way. May you continue to grow in that love. Hoping all the best for you two. Thanks for letting me photograph your day and for you great generosity.
