It’s been a very busy wedding season. I’ve enjoyed the couples I’ve met and photographed this year. Really neat and special people like Dillon and Brittney. Super kind, easy going and genuine. Dillon and Brittney’s wedding was celebrated at The Portofino Hotel and Yacht Club in Redondo Beach. I have photographed many weddings there and at the bottom of this post I’ll leave some links if you want to view some of the wedding blog posts for those weddings. Regardless Dillon and Brittney’s wedding was on a beautiful and warm day. Spectacular wedding weather! I photographed this wedding by myself. I arrived early to shoot the details. There are two really great spots I love to photograph the wedding dress in the lobby. The only issue is that both require a good sized latter. I asked the front desk if one could be brought in. They got on their walkie talkies and in a 15 minutes I had what I needed. Thank you Portofino Hotel and Yacht Club staff!
The Portofino Hotel and Yacht Club has a really beautiful lobby for taking wedding photographs. The only issue is that there is a lot of furniture that has to be moved around and positioned to take advantage of the features of the room as well as the lighting, particularly when photographing groups. The groomsmen and I were kept very busy moving things to get the shots I wanted. I’m so often moving furniture in hotel rooms, lobbies or wherever we are, I jokingly tell my clients that I am 3/4 wedding photographer and 1/4 furniture mover. Whatever it takes to get the job done and get the needed photographs for my clients, that’s what I’ll gladly do!
Hard to get cuter than her! Simply precious!
The first moments right after the wedding and the wedding photographer and the paparazzi are both on the scene!
Look at this handsome fella all decked out in a designer suite!
Wonderful candid moments of the couple’s first dance, father-daughter dance and mother – son dance! Always some of my favorite moments of the day because the emotion seems to be so raw and full of life!
Lighting is always the key to wedding photography. However, the desired lighting does not always occur at the most practical times for any given wedding day. For example, at Dillon and Brittney’s wedding the two different points in the evening that the evening lighting was optimal for wedding photos were both during the reception. Fortunately, for the first opportunity for night shots (sunset) we had coordinated the reception timeline so the guests would be eating dinner and we’d have a chance to slip outside for sunset photographs. The second opportunity (when it was completely dark out) would be a time during the reception when there was open dancing, etc. In both cases Dillon and Brittney had the opportunity to either stay inside and enjoy their reception or dash outside, get some photographs and quickly return to their guests and enjoy their reception. They chose to the later and I’m so glad they did!
True love waits! As the scripture reads, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
Dillon and Brittney, as I photographed your beautiful wedding it was so clear that you both have patiently waited for the true love that God has given you for each other. You are now being rewarded for patient waiting. I’m so happy for you both and thank you for inviting me to be part of your wedding day. Thank you!
Kindly,
Trent
